On Water

Here are a few sunrise/sunset pictures from fishing this summer.
Hopefully one day in the future Kyle and I will catch a fish worth photographing.

Babies Grow Fast

Liam a couple weeks ago.  Got lucky and caught a few smiles.  Hard to believe how much he's changed in just a couple months.
I need to post more.

Liam Michael Dwyer

The faces of Sir Liam (my new nephew) at one month:

Early indications of his deeply contemplative ways.

Hinting here at a future in the male modeling world.

Happy?

Bitterness for not actually having hair on the top of his head.

Headboard

In an attempt to build the heaviest headboard I could think of, I decided to build one from laminated scrap wood lying around my dad's shop.  So I raided my dad's shelves and cut everything down to 2" strips.  Then we built a little jig, stocked up on wood glue, and went to work assembling (as seen in video form below.)  Let it dry for a while and next trip home I did some serious sanding.  It's a bit of a beast and weighs a ton, but looks awesome.

Build Video:  I've been kind of obsessed with time-lapse video's lately and the headboard assembly was the perfect opportunity to experiment.  I set up my camera to take a picture every 3 seconds.  The build ended up taking us about 4.5 hours leaving me with about 4300 stills.  Everything came together quite nicely.  (FYI:  It was built upside down.  The hole will be covered by the bed.)

Sanding Video:  After trimming the edges and lots-o-sanding, it's starting to look finished.  Just have to seal and finish it now.

Oddities

A series of odd pictures I created for my final project. This was a lot of fun to think up and make. I'll be turning this into an ongoing series I'll add to whenever a good idea comes to mind. Thanks to all the models (Melanie, my parents, and of course myself). I welcome any ideas you might have.

Portfolio

Portfolio I made for class. I'm really pleased with the way it turned out and plan on making several more with variations on the binding. Need to work on a better adhesive next time, this one is already starting to peel back. Thanks to Eric over at KoboShop for the leather.

Birthday (belated)

I was treated with a half home-made cake from Melanie.  A very tasty angel food cake with a delicious lemon cream icing.

 Happy Birthday Me!

Fishing

I apologize to my two die-hard followers have been waiting in agony. My break must have been torturous.

Headed out to LaSalle Lake with Kyle to catch some fishies. We were slightly successful in quantity, but size was lacking with most being cat fish of this scale.
First fish of the year was a whopper.
This was pretty sweet. Huge flock of some pelican type bird.
Biggest fish of day, not saying much. He liked to swallow hooks and did not make it.

End of a long day

Got off work at eleven last night and after getting home decided I'd take a couple night shots. Here's what I ended up with...
Right across street
This house is half a block from my place.  It's pretty incredible.  They just finished restoring it end at the of the fall.  Now they started another restoration project just out of frame camera right on another giant house.  Can't wait till they finish that one.

Less than 24 hrs later, I already have one follower and I'm posting again...I'm really on a roll.  I don't expect this to be an everyday thing, but we'll see.

I Climbed a Tree

My first blog post.  It was a little intimidating and has taken me a bit to get the courage up...and here we go.

Went down to St. Louis for Easter weekend and enjoyed some warm weather in the country.  A nice relaxing weekend with time for things like climbing trees and taking pictures.  I wish I had a tree I could climb in the city, it's still rather fun even as an adult.  Melanie was kind enough to do a little modeling down on terra firma.  Also made a little video I'll post eventually.

Here ends my first blog.  I have successfully broken down one barrier in my life.
